THREATS BY FRANCE.
INTEND TO STICK TO THE NEW HEBRIDES. OBJECT TO ANY OTHER POWER TAKING POSSESSION. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, Juno 23. The French Consul informed the Sunday Times, in an interview, that the French were the first to take possession of the Now Hebrides, and intended to stick to it and prove that they were masters. The proximity of the islands to New Caledonia, he said, made them important, and France would object to any other Power taking possession.
