HAVING JOLLY TIMES. INVASION OF THE CITY OF THE PLAINS. (Spec:..' to Times.) Christchurch, last niglit. Tho cadets have arrived. aro pouring in from overy town in New Zealand, detraining aud marching to their destination, the Normal School. One meets everywhere in the city groups and half companies, with constantly increasing numbers.
The fruit shops are doing a roaring trade, and the ice creaui man oven is making a fortune. Tho museum is a great contrG-tff attraction for the boys. The boys’ opinions Of Christchurch are varied.
One says, “ Oh, it’s toff.” Another says, 11 It don’t come'up to DunedinN “ You 'ought to seo Westport,” adds another.
The Premier's “Let ’em all cornel” brought boys from all quarters. Eight hundred and fifty arrived from Nelson, Wellington and Blenheim yosterday. A few hours after 1083 arrived, the Mararoa having 200. All were fed at tho Normal School, where there is table accommodation for 750. In the museum the Normal School is now called tho Abnormal School, but it will not hold all the last billeted. East Christchurch School is now full. There were 87 Invercargill cadets arrived by the express last night. All are on joying themselves with pillow fights and cheerful noises on tin plates. Tho discipline is mind, and orders are readily obeyed. The Gisborne cadets arrived this morning, and the Matawhero cadot-s in tho afternoon. Both were billeted at Wost Christchurch school. All aro safe aud well. '
