SIR JOHN AND SIR JOSEPH.
CONGRATULATIONS AND GRANTS:
By Telograph.—Press Association. Dunedin, last night. Tho Education Board carried a resolution congratulating Sir John McKonzioon his knighthood and restoration to • health, and also objected to Ministers: refusing to sanction the Board’s schemo, for distributing the extra grants. The: Ministers’ proposals will do a grave injustice to a large number of teachers deserving of consideration, but who are excluded from participating. Tho Board therefore asks tho Minister without further delay to authorise tho distribution of the grant according to tho Board’s recommendations, and in accordance with law. (Special to Times.) Dunedin, last night. In reply to congratulations from tho Dunedin post and telegraph staff, Sir Joseph Ward telegraphed : —“ Among tho good wishes of many who are eommuni-. eating with mo, I can assure you none. will be more highly appreciated than. those coming from the officers of tho old! department in which I onco served, and XT wish you one and all every happiness.”
