GISBORNE CADETS.
“ LET ’EM ALL COME.” OFFICIOUSNESS IN NAPIER. [Special to Times. | Wellington, last night. The Defence Minister, being interviewed regarding the school cadets from Gisborne, expressed surprise that the order for their going to Christchurch had been countermanded.
From information gleaned, I have reason to believe that someone in Napier suggested that the distance was too far for the Gisborne cadets to com£. The Premier’s response was, “ Let ’em all come; the more the better, so long as they conform to the conditions laid down and transport is available,’’
I understand that orders have been issued accordingly. The cadets come on by train ; and ship for Christchurch direct. Fully' 8000 will be camped in school-. houses there, and special arrangements are being made to make the boys comfortable.
MrR. Johnston, on behalf of Mr Marshall and the boys, telegraphed to Mr R, N. Jones, who is in Wellington, asking him to see what could bo done on behalf of the lads excluded, and yesterday afternoop the following telegram was received from Mr Jones: “Have interviewed Premier; all cadets can go to Christchurch,”
