Lord Kitchener reports that 2,640 Boers have been killed, captured, or surrendered during May. Messrs Smut and DeWefc remain at Standerton awaiting Kruger’s reply to telegrams. Claims presented to the South African Compensation Commission by Gormans who became burghers, but- did not fight-, allege that their nationality entitles them to German protection and compensation for expulsion. Tho circulation of foodstuffs northwards of Do Aar is being restricted to a minimum of essentials lest any be captured. Lord Kitchener reports that between tho Ist and 9th, 26 Boers were killed, 4 wounded, and 409 were captured; 33 surrendered; 651 rifles, 15,550 rounds of ammunition, 125 waggons, and 400 horses, were captured. Lieut. A. King, and Lanco-Corporal C. TJrotou, of Now South Wales Bushmen, wero sevoroly wounded at Buffel Shook. Privato Leuv has died of enteric.
