The race proves to be useless, - Major Steward promised to endeavor, to get a Government engineer sent to inspect it. Last evening he addressed a meeting of electors at St Andrews, explaining the chief .measures of last session. He will re-introduco the Elective Executive Bill. With regard to Federation, he argued that it would be unwise for New Zealand to join the Commonwealth. : >.■
