SCAMP LET OFF FOR MONEY PAYMENT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Napier, last night. At the Supreme Court to-day Thomas Watts, who on Tuesday had pleaded guilty to a charge of indecent assault on a young woman named Matthews, was brought up for sentence. His Honor Judge Edwards said that though ho was satisfied from the depositions that there had been no intention on the part of prisoner to commit a particular offence, yet the act had been one of gross indecency, and was of a class of offences that would have to be put down. He thought a fine would meet the case, and therefore inflicted a fine of 4100, or in default one year’s imprisonment.

John McCusher was found guilty on a second trial of criminally assaulting a young girl named Horne, and will bo Bontonced to-morrow.
