The North Otago Jockey Club’s Winter Meeting commenced to-day. The weather was dull, but fine and warm. The attendance was large. The following are the results :

Newborough Hurdles Handicap.—Wailraia 1, Derry 2, Dundee 8. Divs., «£3 and .£1 10s. A good race. Won by half a length ; a bad third. Time not taken.

' Winter Welter.—Fighting Mac 1, Lady Lillian 2, Graudshot 3. The winner started well, and was never headed. Time, 1.18 2-5. Divs., £4 16s nud £2 Bs. President’s Handicap.—Gameo 1, Nihilist 2, Strathnairn 3. Belligerent also ran. Won by a length, half a length between second and third. Nihilist was rapidly overhauling the loader at the finish. Time 2.12 2-5, divs. £5 10s and £2 15s.

Trot Handicap. Reprieve, 48sec, 1 ; Robert W., 45sec, 2; Gleniti, 39sec, 3. Also ran: Sydney 23scc, Three Cheers 26sec, Van Wilkins 89sec, Honest Bob 42sec, Bumper 43sec, Major Robin 25scc, Firboy 48sec, Master Charlie 48scc, Momotu 40sec. Won by six lengths. Time 4.35 2-5, divs. £4 16s and £2 Bs.
