DISGRACEFUL STATE OF AFFAIRS [By Telegraph—Press Association.] Christcliurch, last night. At the inquest touching the death of the woman named Elizabeth Moore, the post mortem shosved that death was due to hemorrhage ' caused by cancer. The woman had been living for years with a man who earned wages amounting to £2 2s per week, but the house was in a filthy and disgraceful condition. The foreman asked if the jury could not add a rider as to the disgraceful and insanitary state of the house where deceased had lived.

The Coroner thought that the bestcourse would be to request the sergeant of police to call the attention of the health authorities to the matter, and this it was ultimately agreed to do,
