A SAD FATE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.] Invercargill, last night. The body of Mrs Fell, who left her home at Green Hills, at the head of the Bluff Harbor, nearly two months ago, was found yesterday on a gravelly point some distance to the eastward. An inquest was opened and adjourned. SAWMILL EMPLOYEES.
A mutual agreement has been entered into by,the Sawmills Society and the employers, under which a week’s work is 48 hours, the minimum wages being :—A breast bench sawyer, who keeps two saws and a top saw, 10s 6d per day; one saw, 10s ; no saw, 9s ; a big bench sawyer, who keeps a'bottom and top saw, 9s Gd; -no saw 9s ; middle bench tailor out, 9s per daythird bench, 8s per day ; hi" bench, 8s ; first class machinist, who makes his own knives and irons, 10s ; second class, 9s ; third class, for the first twelve months, 8s ; first class certificated engineers, required to do other work, 9s ; second class, 8s ; drivers of locomotives, whilst driving. 10s ; bushmon, shoemcn, trolleymon, aud stokers, 9s ; tramway men, 8s ; unskiled laborer, 7s Gd ; boys sixteen years of age, 8s Gd, and an advance of Is per day for every year over sixteen; yardmen and bullock drivers, UlO per month to be paid for holidays before the Bth of the month, preference to union men if they arc as suitable as nonunion.
