A. AND P. SOCIETY.

A .meeting of the committee of the Society was held on Saturday afternoon. Present: Messrs Maefarlaue (President), Holden, Kirkpatrick, Bright, Smith, Dobbie, Watson, W. Sherratt, and Dewing. The following now members were elected :—Messrs C. Lewis, T. Adams, J. Whinray, McConnell, Hamon, W. Ranger, G. G. Shierlaw, T. Garrett, K. Harris, C. D. Bennett. Hood, Kano, McPhail, R, 11. McMillan, and G. W. Wells.

On the motion of Mr Bright, it was resolved that a letter of condolence be sent to Mr Cyril White on his recent bereavement.

Mr Ewen Cameron wrote suggesting the advisability of the Society giving prizes for the two largest pumpkins (weight and shape), also for the three or four largest cobs of com with the greatest number of seeds, and best quality—the pumpkins to be delivered by Bth of June, and the corn by the end of July or August. Mangolds and carrots might be included. It would be a good advertisement of what the district can produce. Ho had heard of,- pumpkins 1501bs in weight, and a cob of corn with 1900 seeds. They would be worth looking at. Three prizes might be given for each class, and a small entrance fee charged.—Referred to programme committee.

Messrs Holden Dobbie, and Gray wove elected a sub-committee ,to report on the charge for auction in other places, as shown by correspondence from Chambers of Commerce.

Messrs I\l. Hall, Evew Cameron, C. Neenan, A. Parsons, A. Davys, Geo. Humphreys offered suggestions of additions to the programme. Messrs Bright, Sheratt, Watson, Kirkpatrick, and C, White were elected a programme committee. It was resolved to write to the following gentlemen to ascertain if they would act as judges at the next show : Mr Hocking (Feilding), light horses ; W. Gardiner (lvukuhia, AVaikato), draught horses and cattle ; Geo. AVhecler (Halcombe), sheep ; A. McLean (Hawke’s Bay), sheep.
