THE ROYAL VISIT.
NEW ZEALAND’S WONDERLAND. [By Telegraph—Pre=3 Association.] Auckland, last night. Active preparations are being made at Rotorua for the reception of the Royal party. The new bath house is in a forward state, and the main arch is in course of construction. The Grand Hotel has been connected with the telegraph system of the colony, to enable tho Royal party to have independent communication with the large centres. A first contingent of 500 Maoris are now on their way to Rotorua. On their arrival Maori war-dances will be the order of the day.
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Brisbane, May 21. A largely-attended levee was held by tho Duke at Parliament House, and a reception at Government House during the afternoon. This evening a civic concert brought the functions to a conclusion. The Royal visitors leave for Sydney tomorrow. Brisbane, May 24. The Royalties departed for Sydney this morning. There was a brilliant farewell. The Acting-Premier presented the Duke and Duchess with .several magnificent Queensland opals.
DECORATIONS. (Py Telegraph—Press Association.) Christchurch, last night. A number of local bodies at Westland propose, in connection with the decorations for the reception of the Royal visitors, to erect at Christchurch a stand illustrative of Westland and its products. The stand will contain trophies of gold, coal, and timber, with a back setting of ferns, etc., illustrative of West Coast scenery.
