SENSATIONAL INCIDENT.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Auckland, last night,

A sensational incident occurred at the inquest at the. Asylum on Caroline Lidyard, who was severely bruised in several ineffectual attempts at suicide. The jury returned a verdict that death was due to natural causes. During the inquest the jury called attention to the fact that on the table at which-they were sitting was written, “ Call in E. Godsell’s evidence on Caroline Lidyard,” In reply to the Coroner, Dr Beattie stated he had a patient named Godsell. Mrs Godsell, being before tho Court, stated she wrote the words on the table. She proceeded to make a number of wild charges against the institution, and the Coroner assured Mrs Godsell that he would report the matter to the Minister of Justice and the official visitors, in order that they might, if they thought fit, mako an investigation.
