Tho Germans have defeated the Chincso at Ausu Pass, and have occupied ICwangebang, which is outside Count Waldersee’s sphere of action. In tho House of Commons Lord Cranbourno stated that tho proprietary rights of tho land claimed by the railway company at Tientsin, through which Russia is pushing roads; is not prejudiced by Russia's action. Tho Times’ Tokio correspondent states that M. DeGiors proposed to Li Hung Chang that Russia should guarantee tho indemnity in return for political concessions made to Russia by China. Li Hung Chang expressed a fear that such an arrangement would lead to misrepresentation. They should restore Russia's intimate relations in China when the Court returned to Pekin.
