CHEAP TRIP.
[By Telegraph—Press Association]. Wellington, last night. In view of the Royal visit, sessional Royal passes to members’ wives will be issued as from the Ist of Juno. FOOLISH STRIKERS.
Some days ago, aballastgang employed on the Government railways near Palmerston North struck for a certain concession of wages. The Acting-Minister of Railways has decided- that, in view of the necessity of maintaining discipline in the service, the men who struck cannotbe again taken on to replace . those who were afterwards employed. In consideration, however, of the fact that they may have been injudiciously advised, they will not be debarred from employment when future vacancies occur. MIDLAND RAILWAY.
At the” Midland Railway Commission to-day, Mr Bell, Counsel for the Crown, stated that his address to the Commission will be in writing, after having been submitted to the Government.
