The Federal Cabinet have decided to appoint a delegate to attend a couforoncc of representatives of the self-govormng colonies at London to consider tho terms of a Bill relating to an Appellate Court for tho Empire, to take the place of the Privy Council. Tho Government invite tondors for half a million throe por cent, debentures. The minimum is fixed at 96, and the currency' is 29 years. A severe drought exists over a portion of the Malice country. On receipt of a eablo that tho Marylobone Club had abandoned sonding a team to Australia, the committeo of tho Melbourne Cricket Club decided to take tho responsibility of bringing out a team this year. The committoo aro positive that it will have no difficulty in getting a toam, with McLaren as captain, they guaranteeing tho financial part of the business. Mr Mulock says that sinco tho introduction of penny postage in Canada tho postal revenue has largely increased, being £50,000 por year more than under tho higher rate. For many years tho postal expenditure annually was £150,000 more than the revenue, but it is expected that tho present year will show a shortage of only £50,000. The inter-stato conference of the Leagues of Wheelmen lias decided to establish an Australasian Federal Cycling Union Championship for next racing season, fixed at twenty-five miles, an interstate race being allotted to New Zealand. Sydney, May 17. The Now Zealand troops liavo arrived from Melbourne. They sail for New Zealand by'-tho Monowai to-morrow. The State Premier has informed Mr Seddon that it is impossible for him or any of his colleagues to accept tho invitation to visit Now Zealand at tho time of the Royal visit, owing to the pending State elections. All are much disappointed, and wish New .Zealand the same success as Sydney and Melbourne had over the Commonwealth celebrations.
