TROTTING IN AUCKLAND.

Auckland, last night. For the second day of the Auckland Trotting Club’s Autumn Meeting the weather was overcast, but the attendance was large. The sum of £2338 passed through the totalisator during the day in 10s tickets. The results were :

Trial Trot, 1 mile. —Hero, llsec, 1 ; Ebonite, Bsec, 2 ; Louie, 20sec, 8. Time, 2.52 j. Scratched : Bill. Div., £2 2s. Hero and Legrande were bracketed on the machine.

Class Trot, 1 mile.—Waitekauri, llsee, 1 ; Albert Victor, scr, 2 ; Joker, 6sec, 3. Time, 2.39. Div., 19s. Easter Trot, 2 miles. —Huon Leigh, scr, 1 ; The Joker, scr, 2 ; K.D., scr, 3. Scratched: Billy Wilson. Time, 5.21. Div., 18s. Autumn Harness Trot, 11 miles.— Billy Wilson, 1. Scratched : Huon Leigh, Belle, Ebonite. Time, 4.9. Div., £1 3s. May Handicap, 64 furlongs.—lvan 1, Certain 2, Miss Lane 3. Scratched : Little Wonder, Topsail, First Whisper, and The Spray. Time, 1.23. Div., 19s. Farewell Handicap, 5 furlongs.-—Spray 1, Little Wonder 2, Lady Howitzer 8. Scratched: Topsail and Bavaria. Time 1.74, div. £3 16s. Leona did not start, and investments on her were returned.

In the Autumn Harness Trot Empress came in first and Harold Abdallahsecond. The owner of the third horse Billy/Wilson, entered a protest against the winner on the grounds of galloping, and against the second horse on the grounds of inconsistent running. The evidence showed that the track steward had called Empress off for galloping, and tho protest 1 against her was sustained ; also that against Harold Abdallah. W. Chatteril, owner of the horses, lodged an appeal against the decision of the stewards, and the stakes and totalisator investments were impounded. The dividend on Empress was £5 15s.
