By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, May 14. Mr L. D. Nathan, of Auckland, has purchased the racehorse Fitzsimon, which will be shipped immediately. Besides £79,000 on the personalty of the late Marquis-of Bute’s estate, the trustees pay to the Treasury £200,000 in the shape of duties. The Hamburg - American Steamship Company has purchased the Atlas line, consisting of seven steamers, for five million dollars.
In connection with the recent wholesale poisoning, the King’s Bench division of the High Court of Justice decided that publicans were responsible for the sale of arsenicated beer.
The Exchange Committee in London has fixed the making-up prices of Northern Railroad stock at 140, causing a drop of 82. Buying not being enforced on this account, has prevented a squeeze and relieved the tension. Both the Harriman-Iluku and Morgan Hill groups of millionaires claim to have control of the rrlroads.
