EXPORT OP SWINE —PEDIGREE STOCK FOR AUCKLAND DISTRICT.

Auckland, last night.
A deputation from the Agricultural Association waited on tho Secretary of the Department for Agriculture (Mr Ritchie) with reference to tho export of swine, and tho importing of pedigree stock bv the Government. With regard to the export of pigs to the Islands, Mr Ritchie pointed out that restrictions had been imposed by the Island authorities on learning that swine fever was prevalent in tho colony. He promised, however, to notify the authorities at Fiji and elsewhere of tiie improved state of affairs, and make arrangements to have all pigs examined by Government veterinary surgeons before being shipped from Auckland, when, lie thought, the Island jiuthorities would again open their ports to New Zealand stock.
With reference to the Government pedigree stock, Mr Ritchie stated that the Government were now negotiating for the purchase of a farm in this district, and if they acquired it they proposed to send some "of tho imported pedigree stock for the use of Auckland settlers at lowfees.
