An Assault Case.

SECOND JURY DISAGREE. (By Telegraph—Press' Association.) Wellington, last night.

The second trial of Edward Pierard, on a charge of indecently assaulting a girl under sixteen years of age, was proceeded with in the Supreme Court to-day. The jury in the first cas'd had disagreed, and at 10.80 to-night the second jury intimated that it was hopelessly divided, the difficulty being that some jurors had a doubt concerning the girl’s statements regarding her ago. The jury were discharged. The Chief Justice said that he thought this a proper case for a re-trial.

This is the second case ’on which two juries have failed to agree during tho present session.
