CANTERBURY COLLEGE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, last night. The Canterbury College Board of Governors considered the recommendation of the Committee that Mr T. Blunty, M.A., Oxford, be appointed professor of modem languages, but after discussing the subject in committee for an hour and a half, postponed consideration of the appointment till the next ordinary meeting. Altogether there were sixty-seven applications, including several from New Zealand. FOOTBALL REFEREES. The Canterbury Rugby Union has decided to hold an enquiry into the behaviour of the spectators at tho AlbionLyttelton match, played at Lyttelton on Saturday, when the referee was insulted by a number of the spectators. The same thing occurred at Lyttelton last year. The delegates to the Union expressed a strong opinion that referees should be protected,
