SLANDERS ON COLONEL ROBIN.
INDIGNANT REFUTATIONS,
[By Telegraph—Press Association.]
Dunedin, last night.
Tlio members of tho contingents recently returned who belonged to Rowing Clubs were entertained last night. Sergt. Scott, in the course of a speech, referred to the indignation felt at misstatements made concerning Colonel Robin. While surprised and indignant, he could say there was not an atom of truth in them. Speaking for thc Second Contingent, he would say that if -Colonel Craddock asked them to go hack to-morrow they would go with him first, but if ho did not ask and Colonel Robin did, they would willingly go with him. Ho eonld not find language to express his indignation. Colonel Robin treated them like men, and they had the greatest respect for him. Sergt. Wright ondorsed Sergt. Scott’s remarks. Colonel Robin was, he said, a strict disciplinarian, and if a man was guilty of pointing he came down heavy upon him, which might account in some measure for thc birth of the statement. Sergt. Macdonald and Trooper Haydon warmly endorsed their conn-ados’ remarks.
