At the Teachers’ Salaries Commission Mr Justice Cooper stated his opinion on the various points. He said the experience of Auckland showed that a colonial scale should be adopted. The staffing and the control of inspectors should also be taken out of the hands of the Boards, and women teachers should be paid equal salaries with men for equal work, but unfortunately it seemed'that the colony’s finances would not stand that at present.
