LABOR DISPUTES.

The Coal Minors’ Association did not accept the Board’s recommendation re the Shag Point and Kaitangata dispute. The Bakers’ Union accept the Board’s recommendation in regard to the dispute with the Southland master bakers. No word from the employers has been received. The recommendation in the Ironworkers’ Union dispute re the Burnside Holler Mills is for 48 hours a week, minimum wage 7s a day, overtime first two hours time and a quarter, after two hours time and a half, Saturdays and holidays double; piece-work is to receive an increase on tonnago equivalent to the above over-time. The Board recommend finishers and non-unionists shall work in harmony and receive the same pay. The Board holds it has no jurisdiction to fix the wages of under-hands. Thames, last night. The Conciliation Court has resumed. The evidence of miners to-day is to the effect that a standard of wages of 7s 6d a day is insufficient.' In the Thames mines gas prevailed and affected thq__ health ofthe miners. Mineral water was also bad in the mures. The evidence was that 9s would be insufficient io enable a man to keep a wife.

Christchurch, last night.

In the Arbitration Court the butchers’ dispute was adjourned until evidence had been taken in Wellington as to the conditions of trade existing there.
