OBITUARY.
By Telegraph—Pres3 Association—Copyright London, May 7. Mr J. M. Bruce, Chairman of the firm of Paterson, Laing, and Bruce, Melbourne, aged 61, has died unexpectedly at Paris of liver complication and diabetes. Wellington, last night. William Wynn Kirby, son of Colonel Kirby, of New Plymouth, aged 23, is dead. Deceased had been accepted as a member of the First Contingent. A slight hemorrhage, however, induced him to abandon the idea. There was a recurrence of thh hemorrhage about a month ago, and it ended fatally last night.
SUDDEN DEATH AT NAPIER. Napier, last night,
A sudden death took place here this morning, Mrs Grundy, wife of the captain of the Napier fire police, being seized with a sudden faintness, and expiring almost immediately. Deceased was attending at her shop, where she has a business as milliner and dressmaker. In the morning she was apparently in her usual health, and returned to the shop in the afternoon. In the evening, however, she felt slightly unwell, expiring suddenly as above. Medical investigation showed that death was caused by the bursting of a blood vessel on the brain.
