Druids’ social takes place this evening. The Poverty Bay Hunt Club meet at the Masonic Hotel this afternoon. The Bcehabite juveniles are holding a social evening in the Wesley Schoolroom to-morrow. The affair should be very successful, as .the tickets are being very readily, disposed of by the members. At Auckland, yesterday, Walter Lock, charged with the theft of £270 from the Bank of New Zealand, by alteration of a cheque, was committed to trial. It is interesting to note in connection with the death of Dr, Kenny, reported in our telegrams yesterday, that Captain Thomson, Harbormaster, accompanied the former Home as far back as 1867. Captain Thomson was at that time chief officer of the ship Columbus, and Dr. Kenny was a passenger who was of great service to officer and crew.
