East Coast Mounted Rifles
A very successful parade w as held by the East Coast Mounted Rifles last evening, when final arrangements and instructions were given in connection with the annual camp, to be held on the 16th inst., at Puhatikotiko. The following order was issued by Captain Winter : “ The annual instruction camp having been authorised for the 16th May, 1901, at Puhatikotiko, the Company will parade, mounted, in service uniform, with carbine and haversack, as under :—Gisborne members at the drill shed at 2 p.m. sharp on the 16th inst. Makauri and Te Arai members'at Kings’ corner, Makauri, at 2.30 p.m. on the 16th inst. Waihuka members at 2 p.m. at the camp at Puhatikotiko. Baggage must bo at the ■ undermentioned places not later than 9 a.m, on the 16th inst. :—Drill shed, Gisborne ; Finnucane’s Hall, Makauri ; and Ormond Hotel, Ormond. Every man’s name to be securely fastened on his baggage. Full dress tunics are not to be taken into camp. Members will require to bring the following articles :—Overcoat to be and strapped to the front ef the saddle, the ro" n,lt to exceed 21 inches in length. . Waterproof shee„, h.ankots, jersey, change of clothes, shaving aim toilet requisites, extra pah of strong boots, towel, soap, etc. Horse cover, dandy brush and comb, nose bag, halter, picket rope, blacking brushes, oil, rags for cleaning gear and carbine, also an old pair of trousers to wear while cleaning horse and gear.’’
