FATALITIES.
[By Telegraph—Press Association.] Auckland, last night. Harry Matocks, groom to Mr Lewis, of Tauranga, was knocked -down whilst attempting to stop a restive horse. He was attended to, and returned to work, but next morning was found in the middle of a paddock unconscious, and died in a few hours. A medical certificate states that death was due to compression on the brain. At the inquest on John McGuire, who died at the hospital, a verdict that ho died through misadventure during an administration of chloroform was returned. In a rider the jury said they considered the hospital should not be left m charge of comparatively young and inexperienced men, without the supervision of an older and more experienced resident medical officer. In answer to the coroner, the jury said ordinary skill was used in administering the chloroform. - The condition of deceased’s heart - could not be found during life. 1 > -
