By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night. The Wellington Education /-Board has practically decided to throw-; the onus of providing for the children who wish to come down to the city to view the Royal reception upon the various school committees.
The Telegraph Department is establishing learners’ galleries in Wellington and Invercargill for lads who wish io acquire a knowledge of telegraphy. -- -• The death occurred to-day of Dr. Lemon, formerly Superintendent of Electric Telegraphs. The Four River Plain dredge, Duller river, gave a return, for 123 hours’ work, of 6oz 12dwt. CORRIDOR CARRIAGES.
The trial run of one of the American corridor carriages on . the Wellington Napier-New Plymouth section last week is considered by the Department to have proved that the cars will give every satisfaction to passengers. • OUTWARD MAILS.
In consequence of the Sonoma not leaving Auckland before Monday, the General Post-Office has made fresh arrangements for the despatch of the mails. The Monowai will leave Lyttelton on Friday, and on arrival here a special train will run through to New Plymouth. The Sonoma is timed to leave Sydney on Thursday.
