CONCILIATION BOARD.
FAR-BEACHING EFFECT OF AWARDS. [UV TIiLEGRAI’K —rEESS ASSOCIATION'.] Wellington, last night,
Proceedings before the Conciliation Board respecting the building trade and laborers’ disputes were interrupted yesterday by the discovery that under the Amending Act of last .session any award made in regard to city workers.will bind the industry through the Wellington and Hawke's Bay districts. As only city employers had been cited, it was considered unfair to proceed in the absence of country representatives, and as the citing of all employers in the southern part of the Island was a large order, the case was adjourned till Saturday for a. conference of the parties as to the difficulty thus presented. Waihi, last night. The Board of Conciliation resumed this morning. The alleged wrongful dismissal of the man Humphrey from the i Jubilee Mine was settled, the man being j re-instated. Several witnesses approved j of the union’s scale, and condemned Sun- | day work in the batteries ; also contract I work. ' Dunedin, last night, i The recommendation of the Concilia- | tion Board in the carters’ dispute has not | been accepted. An application has been j tiled to refer the matter to the Arbitration Court.
