AN IMPUDENT FORGER.
[By Telegraph—Press Association.] I ' Christchurch, last night. At the Magistrate’s Court; Augustus Moore was charged with fpr'ging a receipt for £1,300. The money had been remitted to William Wood and Company through Iteuter's Company. Accused received it, and gave forged, receipts in , William Wood’s name. On February 7th, the money was actually paid, but on March 9th it was shown as though it had apparently not been used. Accused pleaded guilty, and was committed for sen; tence. The same accused' was further charged with stealing £1,941 10s on various dates between January 9th, 1898, and February 9th, 1901. He had received moneys-for the firm on various dates, and spent them chiefly in connection with a kineinatograph he was running; and made false entries in the bank boohs. He pleaded guilty, and was committed for sentence,
