A DIVORCE CASE. Dunedin, last n ight. n the divorce case, Waller v. W alien,

the wife’s petition, for divorce on the grounds of desertion, exceeding five years, the rule nisi was granted, to be made absolute after three months. Shortly after tho marriage the husband disappeared, and has not since been seen or heard of. RECEPTION TO COLONEL ROBIN

At a largely-attended meeting of citizens, it was decided to give a cordial reception to Colonel Robin and the members of the contingents returning by the Tongariro. A strong committee was appointed. The reception will probably take the form of a procession, with luncheon and a social in the evening. It was resolved to make substantial recognition of Col. Robin’s services, and a subscription list, limited to one shilling, was started in the room.

DREDGING. During tho week ended to-day, returns have been reported from 35 dredges, the total yield, mainly owing to flooded rivers, being only 7580 z 14dwt 17gs. or an average of 21oz per dredge. At a mooting of the City and Suburban Tramway Company, a resolution to , wind up the company was confirmed, Dr. Coughtroy protosting, and it was intimated that a first dividend of 8s per share would be payable on Wednesday.
