Whilst giving Martin every credit for his new figures, one caunot but recognise that the now times are not worthy of Australasian riders. Take the world’s records for the same distances, viz.—seven mins, eleven and two-fifths secs, or one minute fifty-seven secs, better than Martin’s figures; fourteen mins, twentytwo and two-fifths secs, or three mins, thirty-seven and one-fifth secs, less than the Australasian recortl; and forty miles three hundred and twenty-seven yards an hour, being eight miles, six hundred and sixty yards further than Martin rode in sixty minutes recently.
