FIRE AND EXPLOSION.
GREAT LOSS OF LIFE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Berlin, April 26. A great fire occurred at tho Griesheim electro-chemical works, near Frankfort-on-Mainc. Two terrific explosions took place in some vats containing picric acid, used in the manufacture of smokeless powder. The flames spread rapidly, leaping across the river Maine, and enveloping the village of Sehwanheim. One hundred persons were killed and injured. April 28. Tho inhabitants of Griesheim and vicinity tied, expecting an explosion of the reservoir containing half-a-million litres of benzine.
