A cattle, coal, and forage train was captured at night near Moltino, looted and burned. The engine, escaping without tho tender, reached Stormberg Junction, and fetched a troop, who on arrival found the Boors had vanished. xV train with passengers aud an English mail preceded the wrecked train.
Most of the generals commanding in South Africa have boon made Commanders of the Bath. They include LieutenantGencmls French, Polo-Carcw, Hector Macdonald, Methuen, and Brabant.
The following other honors are gazetted: Major-General Baden - Powell, Colonel Woolls Sampson, Companions of the Bath ; Sir Reivers Buffer, Lord Kitchener, Lieutenant-General ForcstierWallcor, Sir Gcorgo White, Knights of the Grand Cross of St. Michael and St. George ; Major-General Hutton, Knight Commander of St. Michael and St. Goorgo. Lieutenant P. D. Fitzgerald, of the 11th Hussars, has been awarded the distinguished service order. Private Harold Force, of tho Wcstralian Mountods, has, ~ been awarded the distinguished service medal. Captain Lord Loch, of tho Grenadier Guards, and Hon. T. Brand, of tho 10th Hussars, are eacli promoted to tho rank of major. Enormous numbers of breeding cattle arc being sont to Basutoland in cxchango for ponies. CAPTURES MADE BY BRITISH. Blood, Plumcr, Kitchener and Benson have taken cighty-ono prisoners, received tho surrenders of twonty other Boers, and captured a hundred thousand rounds of small arms ammunition, two hundred horses, aud numerous waggons and cattle. General French is suffering from indisposition. lie lias been recommended to take a short rest. Mr Brodrick has appointed a committee to report oil the question of training applicants for army commissions.
