RAISING THE RATES.
INSURANCE COMPANIES PENALISE NORTH ISLAND. [By Telegraph—Press Association.] Wellington, last night. At a special meeting of the Council of Fire Underwriters to-day, it was resolved that in view of the continued reverses experienced in the North Island, the rates of fire insurance should be raised to a modoratc extent on and after the Ist of May.
