The Duke of Genoa, commanding tlio Italian squadron visiting Tov’on, exchanged a cordial visit with President Loubet, who journeyed to Toulon to attend the naval fete. The demeanor of the people of Toulon towards the ItaUan and Russian visitors is described as courteous but reserved.
The King of Italy has conferred the Order of Annunciata upon President Loubet, who has decorated the Duke of Genoa and Rear-Admiral Birilaff with the Grand Cordon of the Legion of Honor. Speaking at a banquet in honor of the Duke of Genoa, President Loubet hoped that the cordial relations already existing between Franco and Italy would be drawn closer. The Duke of Genoa replied that he would acquaint the King of the cordiality of his reception. The public regard the visit of the Duke of Genoa’s squadron as an act of politeness only.
