PROBABLE DEFICIT OF HALF A MILLION. CANNOT PAY INTEREST ON A FRESH LOAN. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyrigh t Brisbane, Adril 12. The Minister of Railways, replying to a deputation, said that this year would probably end in a deficit of half a million. Owing to the necessity of economy, there will probably bo no railway policy this session, or before the General Election, for the simplo reason that such policy would mean a fresh loan, and the Government would be unable to pay interest on a fresh loan.
