THE NATIVES. [By Telegraph—Press Association.] , Duneffin, last night. The South Island will be represented at the Native gathering at Rotorua at the time of the Yorks’visit. Five go from Henley, and two from Port Molyneaux. The suggestion that an address, framed with greenstone, be presented from the South Island Maoris has boon token up warmly, and will probably bo carried out. A CLEVER GIRL. The Prioress of the Dominican Convent College has received intimation from the Secretary of Trinity College, London, that one of the three local exhibitions, Open to colonial candidates, has been awarded to Eileen Ward, who gained 94 marks in the senior pianoforte examination last year, and junior honors in musical knowledge in 1898. Miss Ward is a daughter of the Hon. J. G. Ward, and was only 14 years of age at the time of the examination. DREDGING.
