AUCKLAND NEWS.
TIJJS POLO FATALITY. [By Tehgraph—Press Association.] Auckland, last night. At the inquest on the body of Mr John Russell, the victim of a polo accident, the evidence given was that if the gate opening on tq the course had been closed, the man might not have been killed. A verdict of accidental death was returned, with the following rider, “ The jury are of opinion that negligence was shown by the Club in not having the gate closed and manned by a competent man.” WAITEKAURI. For the four weeks ending March 30th, the Waitekauri Goldmining Company treated 1885 tons of ore for bullion valued at £3295.
