London, February 28. The first portrait of the King and Queen in their regal robes will be painted by John S. Sargent, the eminent American Royal Academician. In setting aside artists favored by the late Queen and choosing Mr Sargent, the King shows a desire to place artistic merit above Court favor and precedent.
