STEAMER WRECKED.
ALL HANDS SAVED.

Perth, April 2.
The schooner Alto lias arrived at Broome with 121 shipwrecked people aboard, the passengers and crew of tho steamer Karakalta, bound from Eremantlo to Singapore. The steamer struck an unknown roek olf Gape Swan on the night of March 20, and commenced to sink.
Owing to the coolness of [the officors, all bands were safely transferred to the Mats, which stood by the sinking steamer till daylight, tho people then landing on Sunday Island. The vessel is a total wreck.
| The Karrakatta is a 'screw steamer of 2091 tons register, ami belongs to the West Australian Steam Navigation Company. She was built by James Scott inul Co., at Kingston, in 1897, and is a twodecked vessel, with engines 251 nonrnal horse-power, draught 18ft 9"i. Her port of register is Fremantle. She was commanded by Captain 11. Talboys.]
