(To the Editor of the Times.) Sir, —An argument used by the County Chairman in reply to tho Whataupoko Road Board deputation gives rise to a fine point in debate. Mr Macfarlane said it was not for the Council to increase tho value of anyone’s land; he said their duty was to try and give roads. But liow can the one point be inseparable from the other ? If the Council - can make good roads throughout the district they will increase tho value of cveryone’s proporty. Of.course’ Dir Macfarlane meant that the Council must not go from its ordinary course to increase values. I would like to hear him back up. his argument. . I consider it is altogether fallacious.
