Sydney, March 27. •Last night the Freetraders held a great gathering in the Town Hall, Mr Eeid presiding, and the Protectionists held an immense open-air meeting. Both gatherings were marked with much enthusiasm. Mr Eeid and other leaders made a strong appeal in favor of Freetrade, while Mr Barton and Mr E. E. 0 Connor delivered stirring speeches. It is confidently pre- | dieted that the elections to be held on Friday will show a victory for the Bartonians. The Democratic League also held a I demonstration.
