CHARITABLE AID. [By Telegraph—Press Association.] Christchurch, last night. The North Canterbury and Ashburton Charitable Aid Board’s departmental estimates for the year amount to £13,822. It has a balance to credit of £4,029, leaving the estimated net requirements for the year at £9,301. Half of that will come from the Consplidated Fund, and the other half from the contributory local bodies, who will have to pay £4,900, as against £5,335 last year. CYCLING. Mr F. D. Kesteven, Secretary of the League of New Zealand Wheelmen, has received a cablegram from Sydney, stating that the New South Wales Cyclist Union is sending over its two crack riders, E. D. Kershaw and W. Turnbull, to compete in the League’s • amateur championships at Lancaster Park on Good Friday and the following Saturday. At recent meetings in Sydney these two riders have been very successful, Kershaw gaining first place in the three miles inter-club team race at the Commonwealth Cekr brations Meeting. ",
