We are pleased, to be able to stato that Mr Harry Martin, the popular proprietor of the Gisborne Hotel, has recovered from his recent attack of typhoid fever. There are quite a number of Gisborne residents in Napier at the present time, including Messrs A. F. Kennedy, F. Hall, G. R. Wyllie. - > - . _ Messrs J. Greene (Milton) and S. Harrjson.(Marton), two cadets, are to be transferred Jo'.the Gisborne Telegraph Office, _ * Mr Walter Potter, the- popular representative of' Messrs T. and S. Morrin, the well-known hardware merchants, is at present visiting this district. He leaves for the Coast this morning. Mr W. Hamblett,. of the Union S.S. Company's office staff, Gisborne, returned from Napier yesterday. Mr L. Holdsworth, who has been- acting in Mr Hainblett’s place, leaves for'Bunedip J?J the Zealandia this evening. At the meeting in connection with the Hospital Ball, held last evening, Mesdames Townley, Nolan, and Maynard were appointed to organise a Ladies’ Committee. The ladies mentioned took a great interest in tho ball held last year, and Should again be able to get together a good band of. workeis. ... . .... Mr Rees Jones, who won the Championship Sculling competition last. night, is now the absolute pwfrcr of the cup. Prior to last evening’s race, .Messrs Jones and Kiris fead two wins each. Rees Jones was the first towintfie PUP in 1897. Kirk won it in 1898 and' 1899, and Jones annexed it- last year. Both young men are extremely popular in rowing circles, and great interest was taken in the race last evening.
