SLOW WOOL MARKET—DECREASE IN PRICE OF SHEEPSKINS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, March 10. The Antwerp wool sales have closed. Prices arc unchanged. Only half of the River Plato wools offered were sold.
At the sheepskin sales there was fair competition. Merinos were unchanged in price. There was less demand for crossbreds, which showed a five per cent decline.
Hemp is firm in price. Fine Auckland December - February shipments are at £23 15s. Meat market : Mutton Crossbred wethers and maiden ewes, Dunedin and Southland, arc at 4£d ; other sorts, including River Plate, are unchanged. Lamb, fair average, is at 51(1. Prime is unchanged in price. New Zealand beef, 180 to 2201b5, fair average quality, ox fores is at 3 l-Bd. Hinds arc unchanged in price. The Hermione’s cargo of New Zealand wheat sold at 29s 4 l-12d.
