Power will be given the Duke of York to confer knighthoods during his Empire tour
Sydney, March 7. The Cabinet has decided that the Duke of York be asked to lay the foundation stone of the house in the Centennial Park where the remains and memorials of statesmen and others whose memories are cherished can be kept. The first wing will be set apart for troops who fell in South Africa. Melbourne, March 7.
Apart from the illuminations at the celebrations, whieh will cost fully 7,000, it is estimated that the decoration of the streets alone, not including decoration of buildings, will cost £ 10,000. The various nations are undertaking to decorate street blocks.
