ROWING.
The first heat of the Poverty Bay Bowing Club’s trial fours, .for Mr W. Good’s medals, will be rowod on Friday evening, when C. Taylor” (str), G. Brown (3), A. Pool (2), and G. Reed (bow), row J. Webb '(str), R. Moorey(3), J. Newton (2), and H. Bums (bow)/V This- race should produce a very close finish, Taylor’s crew having the advantage, if any. On" Saturday evening J. ' Martin (str), F. Fox (8), A. N. Kirk (2), and J. Parker (bow), meet H.‘Warren (str), E. File (3), C. Keane (2), and K.' McLeod (bow). Martin’s crew should win this race, as they have done a lot of training, whereas - their opponents have had very little; but notwithstanding this the latter can be depended, upon to make a big bid for ■J'/ Tlio bye wnsvdravm •by D. Wost (str), H. Taylor (3), J. Smith' (2), and A. Pritchard (bow). This crew should toko a lot of beating, as they -are all in good form.
Should the tide suit, it is the intention of the Gisborne Rowing Club to start their trial fours for the President’s handsome silver mugs, this evening. These races should also produce some very exciting finishes, as the crews appear to be well matched. ■ On the conclusion of these trial fours, the selection committees of both sheds will set to work picking the “ rep.” crews to do battle on then' behalf against the Napier and Union crews, who will be in Gisborne for the Easter holidays.
