By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, Feb. 26. The inquest in regard to the Sydenham railway accident has been resumed. The inspector gave evidence that tho end rail, at the joint, was a quarter to three-eighths of an inch low near the place where the engine left the line, but he did not consider it dangerous. Otherwise the evidence was that the line and engine were in good order, the engine travelling at the usual rate.
The Rev. George Lane has been elected President of the Wesleyan Conference. Melbourne, Feb. 26.
Lieutenant Wilford Chesncy Wilson, who died of wounds at Hartbeestasfontein, was a son of the late Sir Samuel Wilson. He went to South Africa last year. The Rev. A. R. Edgar has been elected President of the Victorian and Tasmanian Conference. Brisbane, Feb. 26. Messrs Baron and Drake have opened the Federal campaign to large meetings at. Toowoomba. Newcastle, Feb. 26. Sailed: The Petone and Victoria, for Lyttelton. Adelaide, Feb. 26. The Britannic, with the Imperial troops, arrived last night. There is an elaborate programme for tho proclamation of the King on Wednesday. The Imperial troops will participate. Perth, Feb. 26. J. Durack, of Denham station, was shot dead by blacks, and his son was severely injured. The police are pursuing the murderers.
